An backyard astronomer using Google Maps located a broad ring-shaped dent in northern Quebec. Staff at Quebec’s geological survey verified it is a colossal meteorite impact crater formed around 390 million years near Lake Mistassini. The terrain feature resembles other confirmed craters and points to a violent prehistoric strike. Satellite images were compared in detail field data to confirm the result.
