Several Canadian police departments have suspended or paused their Crime Stoppers programs following cybersecurity incidents. The Sault Police Service, Brantford Police Department, and Port Hope Police Department have reported data breaches, leading to temporary halts in their use of the program. Additionally, a Canada-wide freeze on Crime Stoppers programs has been announced, involving partnerships with 35 agencies. These incidents have affected the ability of police to use Crime Stoppers as a tool for gathering information from the public.
